The Deep South , USA

Alabama

Enjoy classic mouth-watering southern barbecue dishes and fresh seafood from the Gulf of Mexico – make sure to get some shrimp from the fishing village featured in the movie Forrest Gump – Bayou La Batre.

Explore the authentic sounds of the south by dancing the nights away to blues, country, and jazz at Alabama’s clubs and bars. Head on into Huntsville to see where the world-famous NASA Marshall Space Flight Center is. Or kick it back and head on down to the coast where you can take it easy on sun-drenched beaches and even visit the mighty Battleship USS Alabama.

Memphis

A music lover’s paradise. Any music fans out there will know that Memphis was once home to the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll – Elvis Presley. Here in Memphis, you can visit his Graceland Mansion, the 14-acre estate where “the King” once roamed. There’s also the Sun Studio, which is the historic recording studio where both Elvis and Johnny Cash first recorded.

Looking for something a bit more quirky? Why not pay a visit to the Peabody hotel and see their famous ducks march their way from the rooftop to the hotel lobby fountain. World-famous Beale Street is also a must-visit – the historic district has been coined as the heart of Memphis and is definitely the best place to head for a night out like no other.

Atlanta

Visit awesome Atlanta – the cultural hub of the south. Known as “the city of trees” Atlanta is a unique urban oasis with tonnes on offer to keep you entertained. Got a bit of a sweet tooth? Well, lucky for you Atlanta is the birthplace of Coca-Cola. Only here can you visit the World of Coca-Cola where you can see, smell, and taste your way through your favourite fizzy drinks history.

While downtown why not also check out the largest aquarium in the western hemisphere – the Georgia Aquarium, with over 100,000 sea creatures, there will be something you’ve never seen before. After a hard day of exploration, Atlanta still has some of the best restaurants, bars, and clubs in the south, serving up all those southern staples you’ll fall in love with.

Louisiana

Let the good times roll in Louisiana – Explore the mysterious swamps and bayous that cover the state – with all of their unique vistas and wildlife sights. Explore the many cities like New Orleans to get well acquainted with the diverse cultures, food, and celebrations that this state is known best for, with Mardi Gras being a must-do! New Orleans

Make sure to stop in the French Quarter on your travels, with its beautiful neighbourhoods it is the best spot in town for some pictures, and more importantly a party. Finally, how could we not mention Mardi Gras? The city comes together for a two-week carnival celebration that’ll leave you with some real stories to tell.
